Meet The Artist

About Waverley Saunders

Waverley is a self-taught painter, mixed-media artist, and published illustrator living on the South Coast of England. Her work is rooted in a lifelong fascination with the natural world—it's creatures, colours, and quiet stories—which continue to guide both her creative voice and the subjects she returns to again and again.

With no formal art training, she's carved her own path: refining her style through hands-on exploration, instinct, and an unwavering passion for creating. Over the years, this journey has taken many forms—painting, set design, illustration—and has led to her artwork being showcased in a gallery. Each experience has helped her build a distinctive visual language shaped by curiosity, emotion, and a deep connection to nature.

Animals have always been at the heart of her life and work, and witnessing how they are often treated by humans has profoundly shaped her artistic purpose. Their vulnerability, resilience, and quiet dignity fuel her need to contribute—however she can—to a kinder, more compassionate world for them.

Through her art, she hopes to shine a gentle but honest light on the beauty and worth of the animals we share this planet with.

"If my paintings can spark empathy, raise awareness, or inspire even a small step toward positive change, then I feel my work is doing what it was meant to do."

Artivism

My deep passion for nature and wildlife drives my commitment to artivism. Witnessing the unnecessary suffering and destruction caused by human actions inspires me to create art that speaks to these issues, aiming to touch hearts, inspire change and raise money for some of my favourite organisations.
